On-ground Works with Local Government

BDTNRM is investing in on-ground works on coastal land in priority areas where Local Governments are trustees. The onground works may include weed removal, revegetation, dune stabilisation, fencing, public access works, protection of endangered beach Scrub (linked to the cross regional Beach Scrub project) and restoration of fish habitats (linked to Ocean Watch’s Tide to Table program) at prioritised sites determined by mapping and resource condition projects. Draft on ground works management plans are currently being developed by each Local Government and Leonie Maddigan, the Coastal Local Government Project Officer, before final approval by the CEO.  To date Townsville City Council, City of Thuringowa Council, Bowen Shire Council and Burdekin Shire Council have worked up draft project plans at a combined value of almost $220,000.   Watch this space for project details when final contracts have been signed off....
