Bringing Back the Beach Scrub

Bringing Back the Beach Scrub Project is assessing the distribution, condition and conservation significance of Microphyll/Notophyll vine forest (beach scrub) on coastal dunes between the Fitzroy River and Thuringowa.

The project was developed through the ‘Back on Track’ species prioritisation framework aiming to prioritise Queensland's native species and guide species conservation and recovery. This project will guide on-ground management actions at priority sites. It will focus resources at sites where a number of priority species can benefit.  Approval from organisations responsible for managing these sites is a requirement before activities commence at these sites.

This project is funded by the Department of Environment and Water Resources (DEWR), directed by the EPA, and coordinated by Mackay Whitsundays NRM group in partnership with the Fitzroy Basin Association and BDTNRM.
