On-ground Works with Coastal Community Groups

BDTNRM recognise the potential capacity the community hold as custodians of coastal land and with that, their passion and willingness to be involved directly in the management of on ground works at local sites. Many community members belong to NRM groups or ‘Coastcare’ groups and BDTNRM has developed a small grant program enabling community groups to carry out activities such as weed removal, revegetation, protection of endangered beach scrub (linked to the cross regional Beach Scrub project # CAM3011) and restoration of fish habitats (linked to Ocean Watch’s Tide to Table program) at prioritised sites determined by mapping and resource condition projects. Interested community groups can apply for funds by initially discussing a project with Rachel Allan, the BDTNRM Coastal and Marine Coordinator, then fill in the application form.
