Presenting Information about Giru Soils

Monday 23rd April 8.30- 10.30am
Dino Palleto's Shed 92 Girrone Road GIRU

Jim McClurg conducted a free 2 hour practical session on Giru soils giving information on the soil types found in the area and which crops they are most suited to.

On behalf of BDTNRM Jim undertook numerous soil samples in 2006, gathering data for the only area in the Lower Burdekin  which had not been mapped. Doug Willis from BDTNRM will be available to let  you  know where you can get this information, and how you can use it. For more information phone Amanda at BDTNRM on 4724 3544.

Raising awareness about the Giru soils project

Communicating and raising awareness for the soil & land survey and agricultural suitability evaluation in the Giru area (Giru Soils Communications) aimed to raise awareness of the soil and Land Survey and Agricultural suitability evaluation in the Giru Area. Present and publicise the results so that the data is utilised effectively by different stakeholders in the region. This will ensure every opportunity to improve scientific research, to make recommendations on sustainable land use planning and to incorporate the protection of good quality agricultural land in this area.
